Sixty Five Hours by N.R. Walker

What would you do if you were CEO of a company and your two best advertising geniuses don't get along? The solution in 'Sixty Five Hours' by N.R. Walker, is to entice them into an opportunity to win a gigantic account. The catch is, they only have sixty-five hours to develop an advertising campaign. Having such a short time to prepare, forces the men to put aside their differences and act as a team. Their boss is hoping that this will break the ice between them and that they will end up working well together when the project is over.
Cameron Fletcher is brilliant, tall, dark, handsome, and miserable. He's the younger son of his boss which puts him under a lot of pressure. He's gay, but presents himself as straight believing that that's what everyone expects. Putting on this mask every day is taking its toll, but he doesn't see any other way. Cameron is terrified to come out for fear of disappointing his parents, so he stays in the closet feeling wretched and lonely. He resents Lucas because he sees him as everything he wants to be, an out and proud gay man who is successful and happy. He's also jealous of his father's interest in Lucas. Being forced to work with Lucas for this project incenses him, but the carrot being dangled in front of him is far too important to resist. He digs in and perseveres, at first not liking it one bit, but familiarity has a tendency to bring out true feelings and he soon can't avoid hiding them anymore.
Lucas Hensley is proud, cocky, and smart. He loves advertising. Lucas makes it clear from the start that he is gay and won't tolerate any discrimination. Lucas can't understand why Cameron has always been hostile with him since he's never done anything to provoke it. He reacts to this unfriendliness by being as indifferent as possible, while secretly bemoaning the fact that he's physically attracted to Cameron. As the resentment builds, they become rivals and are even more uncooperative. When assigned the task of preparing a marketing presentation with him, Lucas is uneasy, but tries to approach it as professionally as possible. Being together for such a short amount of time necessitates that Lucas spend far more time with him than he ever intended. The bickering and picking on each other ensues as they try to continue their feud, but it fades into being more objective and truly seeing each other for the first time. In spite of himself, Lucas begins to admire and appreciate Cameron, even to the point of rejecting his physical advances under inappropriate conditions. He realizes at this point that he wants more than a quickie with Cameron; he wants to do it right.
I loved this story. Cameron and Lucas are marvelous characters and play against and with each other spectacularly. The details on marketing were informative and enlightening; I was overwhelmed by the amount of work that goes into a marketing presentation. Being yourself was also an important theme in this wonderful story as Cameron wrestled with coming out and was delighted when he faces his fears and makes his announcement in such a spectacular fashion. I was easily enticed to become emotionally involved with the men and was cheering them on at every step. I recommend this romantic comedy to everyone who enjoys marketing, humor, wit, and spicy sexual encounters involving handsome men. Thanks so much, N.R., for allowing me to follow Lucas and Cameron on their journey to happiness.

Absolutely loved it

I read Sixty Five Hours by N.R. Walker in one sitting. This is the first ever M/M romance story I have ever read and I loved it. I loved it so much, I favored it over sleep.
Lucas is a character that you cannot help but fall in love with. With Cameron, you get the sense that he is hiding a deep dark secret. The two men are forced to work together on a deadline for a huge marketing campaign and this is when the magic happens. The dialogue is realistic, the plot is plausible, and there was a couple of times where I wanted to throw my iPad in frustration with the two characters. You know it’s a good book when you curse the characters for about twenty minutes before continuing on with the book.
This was the first time I read a book written by N.R. Walker and will not be the last. I will definitely recommend Sixty Five Hours to those who enjoy reading M/M romance. I give this story 5/5 Platypires. Although I would definitely give it more if the rating systems allowed for it.

Thoughtful read

While this book is good and the plot, along with well written characters , is also very good this book delves into expectations and hiding. Cameron is the son of the advertising firm and in the closet about being gay. Lucas is the other advertising genius and out and open about being gay. While being thrown together for 65 difficult hours they have to create an advertising campaign for condoms. Little did anyone know that these hours were life-changing for both men. The frank discussion about being out is unfortunately a well written theme for far too many people whether male or female. The anguish that Cameron has been living with is disclosed and it's heartbreaking. His parents only want him to be happy but he's too afraid to tell them the truth. Lucas is good for Cameron and helps him become himself. The characters sound real and the situations seem quite plausible which makes this story good and honest. Enjoy it....it was a great read.
