this is one of the best 'Introduction to' Algebra books out there

Frankly, this is one of the best 'Introduction to' Algebra books out there. I've tried way way way too many (artin, fraleigh, dummit and foote, jacobson, pinter, etc.) Basically, it's the most non-depressing rigorous take out there. And by 'non-depressing' I mean: absolutely no-dumbing down (in fact he covers A LOT of material) and just enough lucid commentary to make you coming back for more. And the Exercises! Man, they are great! Only problem...there are no solutions! If anybody know of any solution manuals, please let me know, as I'm pretty much doing 'self-study' (i.e. the world's least fun most lonely learning model....)

Different book from what I wanted

I got the older version of the book on this order. The more expensive listing which shows around 78 bucks gives you the newest version so this one is confusing, misguiding and time consuming
